Great Britain
The New Land Rover
Proud owners of their new mobile real estate.
Bird's Eye View
Most pictures from England are not located. One can only surmise. This must be early on as the GT is spotlessly clean. Likely this was take near their first or second day on the road in the south of England.
English Coast
Delighting in the Land rover's capabilities, they deliberately took roads less travelled.
Cornwall Coast
After picking up Bob, they headed west along the coast of England toward Land's End.
Weather Turning
The further along they got, the worse the weather. Here they made their first attempt at radical off-roading. The Land Rover handled it with ease.
Lands End
At Lands End, they turned north towards Bristol.
Sir Peter Scott
Leaving Penzance, they came north to Pter Scott's Severn Wildfowl Trust before heading back to the Rover factory. We don't have pictures of that visit but below is Bateman out birding with Sir Peter Scott in the 1980's.. The other person in the photo is Roger Tory Peterson.

Brand New Shiny Land Rover
On July 22, 1957, The Rover Boys returned to the Land Rover factory for a quick check of the vehicle and some grandstanding for the local media.

Perhaps Lake District?
Making their way north, they stopped briefly in the lake district to visit Bob's childhood friend Alan Gordon.
Prosaic Rural Scene
Unknown location. This mature countryside was most like England. But it might well have been in Queensland, Australia. We will never know.
Industrial England
Bateman loved the quaint village feel of even industrialized towns.
The Highlands
The Rover Boys had immense fun trekking in Scotland. By incredible coincidence they ended up on the top of the same hill with Ann Dagg & her mother. Here Bristol tries capturing some 'B roll' on his new Bolex.
Sketching the Highlands
Bateman sketched and painted constantly. Here in the Highlands he attempts a larger work.
The Real Adventure Begins
Ultimately, Great Britian was not the objective of the Rover Boys adventure. Confident in the GT's capabilities, they loaded her onto the Swedru frieghter in Liverpool on August 30th, 1957.
